November: a month of friends and family

Each November we find ourselves at the tail end of a busy season. September through November are always crazy for us and no matter how hard we try to mentally and emotionally prepare for it, I am always flailing by November. So of course, it is at the end of that season when we travel. Traveling with kids, especially littles, is so hard, but for me it is a welcome diversion from the mundane nose to the ground grind.
Early this month we went to see our friends in Richmond. The state convention for Hubby’s work was held there, so several of my friends from various parts of the state and I went along. The men went to meeting from sun up to sun down (and beyond) while the Mommas and kids ( 5 moms and 15 kids!) played each day. We swam at the indoor pool, went to an indoor playground, ate Mexican food, and went to a great park.
The crazy things is that I only see these women 2-3 times a year and some of them less often then that. Yet, we just pick up where we left off. All of our husbands are in full time ministry. It is a special bond we have. Oh, and our kids all have a great time together too!IMG_7755.JPG

The third Saturday in November found us at a campground celebrating the cousins’ 5th birthday. Though the day was chilly, the kids had a blast playing on the playground, eating hotdogs, hitting the piñata and watching the twins open their presents.

The next day found us in the van traveling to Atlanta to Gramma Gail and Papa Mike’s house for Thanksgiving. The trip began well with sucker cheers.

“To the kids!”

We had a great time at their house. The men and Tyson went hunting/camping and the rest of us made cookies, shopped, went to a huge indoor play place and went roller skating.

Thanksgiving morning found us at Bass Pro Shop, playing games and visiting Santa while Gramma made lunch. We had a great trip which culminated with decorating the grandparent’s house for Christmas.
